Emilie Dequenne, renowned for her role in the BBC drama The Missing, succumbed to cancer two years following her diagnosis.
Dequenne, a celebrated actress hailing from Belgium, was diagnosed with adrenocortical carcinoma, a type of cancer affecting the adrenal gland, in October 2023.
By April 2024, she informed her fans that she had entered remission and expressed her desire to return to acting. “I was nearly forgetting because I was leaving the hospital today after 13 days… What a challenging battle,” she posted on social media. Unfortunately, the cancer reemerged at the end of 2024.
In an interview with the French television program TF1 in December 2024, she disclosed that her health had significantly declined. “I am aware that I will not live as long as I had hoped,” she stated.
Emilie Dequenne passed away on March 16, at a hospital located on the outskirts of Paris, France, at the age of 43.
