California Governor Gavin Newsom launched into an extensive tirade, challenging President Donald Trump and White House border czar Tom Homan to arrest him as rioting in Los Angeles intensified for the third consecutive day.
As rioters hurled large rocks at police officers from an overpass, built makeshift barricades, and set vehicles ablaze, Newsom persisted in attributing the unrest to President Trump. The president declared on Saturday that he would be deploying 2,000 California National Guard troops to restore order following Newsom’s inaction, a decision the governor has contested.
“Donald Trump has fostered the conditions you are witnessing on your television tonight. He has aggravated the situation. He has, you know, ignited the proverbial match. He has been fueling this fire ever since he announced he was taking control of the National Guard in an unlawful act, in an immoral act, an unconstitutional act, and we are going to challenge that assertion with a lawsuit tomorrow,” the governor expressed vehemently.
Newsom then outlined his intention to file a lawsuit against the Trump Administration regarding the National Guard’s deployment tomorrow morning. “Well, according to his executive order, and specifically noted under what the Department of Defense did, they were required to coordinate with the governor of the state. They failed to coordinate with the governor of the state,” he stated.
The governor subsequently addressed White House border czar Tom Homan, who, along with President Trump, asserted that any state or local officials who attempt to obstruct federal immigration operations will face legal repercussions.
“The fear, the horror, the hell is this guy? Come after me, arrest me, let’s just get it over with, tough guy. You know, I don’t care,” Newsom continued to express passionately. “But I care about my community, I care about this community. What the hell are they doing? These individuals need to mature, they need to cease their actions.”
President Donald Trump is currently reflecting on the third consecutive day of riots intended to obstruct and halt federal immigration enforcement activities, labeling it an “insurrection.”
“Governor Gavin Newsom and ‘Mayor’ Bass ought to express their apologies to the residents of Los Angeles for the utterly poor performance they have exhibited, which now encompasses the ongoing riots in L.A.,” Trump stated on social media Sunday evening.
“These individuals are not protesters; they are instigators and insurrectionists. Keep in mind, NO MASKS!”
