Bondi Announces DOJ Involvement After Minnesota Lawmaker Shootings

Attorney General Pam Bondi stated that the Department of Justice is actively involved following the shooting of two Democratic lawmakers in Minnesota, one of whom was killed.

“I am closely observing the developments in Minnesota after what seems to be a targeted assault on state lawmakers. The FBI is present on-site, investigating this matter in conjunction with state and local authorities,” she remarked on X.

“This appalling violence will not be accepted and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” she added.

FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino commented, “The FBI is fully engaged on the ground in Minnesota and is collaborating with our local and state partners.”

Additionally, the FBI, under the leadership of Director Kash Patel, has announced “a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Vance L. Boelter, who is suspected of shooting two Minnesota lawmakers and their spouses at their homes on June 14, 2025.”

President Donald Trump released a statement expressing his condolences for the Democratic Minnesota lawmakers who were reportedly shot by suspect Vance Boelter.

The message was disseminated on X by White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt before Boelter was identified as the shooter.

“I have been informed about the tragic shooting that occurred in Minnesota, which appears to be a targeted attack against State Lawmakers. Our Attorney General, Pam Bondi, and the FBI are looking into the matter, and they will prosecute anyone involved to the fullest extent of the law,” the president stated.

“Such dreadful violence will not be tolerated in the United States of America. God bless the wonderful people of Minnesota, a truly remarkable place!” he remarked.

Former Minnesota Vikings and University of Minnesota football player Jack Brewer expressed his thoughts following the early-morning shootings.

Brewer, who spent four seasons with the Golden Gophers prior to starting his NFL career with the Vikings in 2002, criticized Governor Tim Walz, accusing him of permitting Minnesota to become “the capital of chaos.”

“We must begin to label this for what it truly is. These individuals have lost their sanity. It breaks my heart to witness one of the most remarkable states in America completely transformed under Governor Tim Walz. Minnesota is in disarray,” Brewer stated to Fox News.

“I played for the Vikings. I played for the Gophers. I resided in Minnesota for many years. It was never like this. People were courteous. Individuals could have differing opinions and still engage in dialogue. I still have numerous family members there, and it pains me to see what they are enduring,” he continued.

“Minnesota has turned into the capital of chaos in America. That is unacceptable. It does not represent the true essence of the people of Minnesota. There are many good individuals there. However, the liberal stronghold surrounding Minneapolis and St. Paul has taken control, and it poses a threat. Tim Walz is at the helm of that. His attorney general, Keith Ellison, is complicit as well,” Brewer added.

Boelter is accused of impersonating a police officer when he entered the Champlin residence of Senator John Hoffman and his wife early Saturday, shooting and seriously injuring both. He then allegedly proceeded to the home of former Democratic House Speaker Melissa Hortman, where he is charged with fatally shooting her and her spouse.

In a statement to reporters on Saturday, Walz characterized the attack as a “politically motivated assassination,” but he did not reveal that the suspect had been previously appointed by his administration.

Brewer, in response to the incident, attributed the violence to the leadership of the Democratic Party and the governance of Walz, advocating for what he termed a “return to masculinity.”

“On this Father’s Day, I wish Minnesota would concentrate on reinstating fatherhood — safeguarding women, safeguarding families. Tim Walz exemplifies a weak, emasculated leader. That is not the essence of what God intended fathers to be. It’s disgraceful,” Brewer stated.

“It’s appalling. The fundamental cause of all this is evil. When you are prepared to assault, mock, riot, and protest against anyone who holds a differing belief — even within your own party — you have crossed a line,” he continued.
