Women wearing rings on pinky fingers: What does it mean?

I believe that most of us will automatically assume that a woman is married if you point out that she has a ring on a specific finger.

That still holds true today as it has for the past 100 years, but it seems like a new trend is emerging where women are wearing rings on their pinky fingers. and its meaning is as far away from announcing that they are officially taken as it gets.

To symbolize a commitment to self-love, they wear a ring on their pinky finger. If you’re interested in learning more about that, read this article through to the end, and we’ll try our best to explain.

Pinky finger rings

People have been using rings for a long time to project messages and convey emotions to others without having to speak. An engagement or wedding ring is the most obvious, and it typically serves the purpose of letting everyone know that the woman in question has found the person she wants to spend the rest of her life with.

Needless to say, wearing rings on different fingers does not necessarily indicate that the wearer is attempting to make a statement. Some people wear rings just like they would any other accessory, solely because they believe they look good and go well with the outfit they’re going for that day.

However, if you see a woman in public with a ring on her pinky finger, it may be because she supports a new movement that was allegedly started by jewelry makers Fred + Far, who want to celebrate people’s worth regardless of their relationship status.

One of the founders of Fred + Far, Melody Godfred, revealed that she came up with the concept for a pink finger ring because she wanted to remind herself to look after herself. The ring did serve as a symbol of self-determination and empowerment.

Godfred stated in an interview with Mental Scoops: “I decided to make the ring for my pinky since I’ve never worn a ring on that finger before. It is as often disregarded as women themselves.

“To say, ‘This time, I’m choosing myself,’ with a big, bold engagement ring—a traditional symbol of commitment to someone else—felt really powerful to me.” These two rings are not exclusive, and I still proudly wear my engagement ring. Because you are better able to love someone else when you love yourself.

An inverted triangle stone on the ring in question is meant to symbolize the strength of the “divine feminine.” No matter how much a ring costs or what kind of material it is made of, we believe it can only be beneficial to value yourself and wear something that represents your integrity.

The origins of pinky rings

It turns out that there is a long history behind the notion that women should wear pinky rings. According to reports, women in the Victorian era frequently wore rings on their left pinky finger to indicate that they were unmarried but had no interest in getting married.

Women have started wearing pinky rings as a way to show that they care about and love themselves in more recent years. You will therefore be better able to speculate as to the possible cause the next time you see a woman in public who has chosen to accessorize herself in this manner!
