When Mo and her husband Alex relocate to a new apartment, a generous gift primarily from her parents, she organizes a housewarming celebration to signify their new beginning. However, the festivities take an unexpected and shocking turn when Alex and his mother Barbara declare their expectation that Mo should transfer ownership of the apartment to Alex’s sister, Katie—a single mother of three. Mo is taken aback, particularly as her husband seems to have conspired with his mother beforehand.
Barbara attempts to manipulate the circumstances, portraying Katie as the most deserving candidate for the home. Nevertheless, Mo’s parents, Debbie and Mason, had foreseen such treachery. Debbie calmly informs Barbara that the apartment is registered solely in Mo’s name, according to the legal documents established when they contributed the majority of the down payment.
